Multi-fold doors are designed to be used in applications where
folding doors are needed to cover wider than normal areas. Depending upon the hardware used, door sections from 12″ – 42″ wide can be used. Multi-fold doors can be used in a number of configurations, as long as the doors are in even numbers on either side of an opening. For example, you can have two doors on one side, six on another side, four each side, or many other possible configurations.

**Required Hardware: Multifold track, top pivot set, door hanger, bottom pivot bracket, bottom pivot door guide, pivot lock, surface mount or non mortise hinges, knob. **All the needed track and hardware can be purchased in a kit containing everything you will need in one package.

This Hardware would be used where normal pocket doors cannot be installed, or where costs to install them would be prohibitive. Ideal for closets where space required for a swinging door is wasted space. Easy to install, and can be readily adapted to fit a variety of applications. Manufactured by most door companies in standard widths of 16” to 36”.

However, with the wide assortment and availability of closet door applications today you may require track, rollers, pulls, and various other hardware to provide smooth operation of your door unit.

Before selecting any hardware, the first order of business will be to decide exactly what type of closet door that you want to install. This decision will depend on several factors. How large or small will your closet be, how wide of an entrance will you want, do you have the floor space needed for a traditional prehung swing door, should that be your choice?

Keep in mind that a single traditional prehung swing door unit can take up to ten square feet of floor space, double that, up to twenty square feet for a double prehung swing door unit. By installing a pocket door unit in place of a standard prehung swing door unit, you can create space for that bookcase, aquarium, or shelving unit you’ve been wanting. A bifold door unit, multifold unit, wall mount,pocket door, or bypass doors, will also take up less floor space than a prehung swing door. Listed below are several different closet door options for your consideration along with the hardware required.

Prehung swing doors are standard doors attached to a frame (jamb) by means of hinges. Manufactured by most door companies in standard widths of 16” to 36”  Required hardware: Mortise hinges plus a knob, lever, or pull. Lock sets can be added. The following choices of knobs and levers are just a few of the selection available. Crystal levers, lead crystal knobs, porcelain knobs, solid brass knobs, solid brass levers, solid bronze, wardrobe knobs, and wrought steel knobs.

A Pocket door is a door which slides into a hollow cavity, or pocket
opening, in a wall. This allows the door to be open and hidden within the wall without taking up any floor space. Manufactured by most door companies in standard widths which will fit all of the available pocket door frame kits.

**Required hardware: Pocket door track, door hangers, door stop,
door guide, detachable hanger plates, self adjusting floor brackets, steel wrapped uprights. **All of the needed track and hardware can be purchased in a kit containing everything you will need in one package, with the exception of your closing apparatus. Pocket door pulls, Heavy duty pocket door locks, edge pulls, and flush pulls can be purchased separately.

Bypass doors are doors specially designed to be used in closets.
These doors do not fold like bifold doors, but slide over top of one
another. You will not want less than a one inch overlap with a bypass door application. Manufactured by most door companies in standard widths of 16” to 36”.

**Required hardware: Bypass track, door hanger, door stop, bypass door guide, track stop for three or four door bypass, flush pull. **All of the needed track and hardware can be purchased in a kit containing everything you will need in one package.

Bifold doors are always done in pairs, with two doors folding to one side, or with four doors, split in the center of the opening, with two doors folding back to each side. Manufactured by most door companies in standard widths of 24” which consists of two twelve inch doors, up to 72” which consists of four eighteen inch doors.

**Required hardware: Bifold track, door hangers, bottom pivot, top
pivot set, bottom pivot bracket, track stop, knob, surface mount or non mortise hinges, adjustment wrench, and a four door aligner if
necessary. **All of the needed track and hardware can be purchased in a kit containing everything you will need in one package. Cabinet knobs can be purchased separately to give your bifold a personal touch.
